What Motivates you about being a Motivator?

I want everyone else to feel the pure joy, satisfaction, energy, resilience, courage, and passion that I feel when I push pass boundaries or accomplish a goal (micro or macro) that started as a distant dream. I want to help people tap into their inner strength and help them realize they are truly capable of absolutely anything that set their minds and hearts to.

How would you describe your style of class at YYC?

I love to work hard but I love to have fun even more. My class will put a smile on your face, it will challenge you and make you stronger. You will leave my class pumped full of dopamine (the feel-good neurotransmitter - google it) and ready to tackle whatever life has in store for you. Life's too short to sweat the small stuff, we will move passed those barriers together.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Professional Basketball player.

What is your weakness?

Ice cream and a really good muffin.

What motivates you about being a motivator?

They say to follow your passion and you’ll find your purpose. Being a Motivator IS my purpose. It's not even about spin. It’s so much more. Spin has become an accessory to what happens in that room and beyond it's doors. Spin has become a platform for so much; Positivity, Passion, Motivation, Overcoming, Betterment, Community, Authenticity and simply Happiness! Not just for me, but for every member of the biker gang who has ever sat down on the bike with me. We are on a journey together to overcome physical and mental changes and challenges, and I'm right there beside you every step of the way. We are all confined by the walls we have built ourselves. Let's break them down and strive for greatness together. We can. We will.

How would you describe one of your style of classes at YYC?

One of my classes is like walking into a Night Club in Las Vegas with spin bikes in the room! The lights, sounds and energy are electric. The tracks will have you rocking to remixes of everything from Jay-Z with Stevie Wonder, to Mumford and Sons mixed with ACDC. We’ll push ourselves to our limits, dripping with sweat, and find out just how strong we are together. You are always stronger than you think you are.... BRING IT!

Comedy or Horror Movie?

Comedy for sure!

What is your favorite quote?

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
- Marianne Williamson

What motivates you about being a motivator?
Motivating combines two of my biggest passions: people and fitness. Joining the family at YYC Cycle filled a void left from leaving a lifetime of competitive athletics. Being surrounded by like-minded people with common interests has allowed me to re-discover the joy of belonging to a team, which my training was missing. Coaching, inspiring, and getting to know bikergang members of all levels, from someone incorporating spin into their regular fitness regime to a first timer, is what has given me a sense of purpose.

How would you describe your style of class at YYC?
Picture this: It’s Saturday night and your wild weekend plans include Full House re-runs and pizza delivery, until you get peer-pressured into going to some hyped up house party. Instead of putting on jeans and a t-shirt, you throw on some spandex and a sweatband. Just as you expect to be greeted with flat beer in a plastic cup by some frat boy with a popped collar, Grady’s handing you a Happy Water and a chilled, citrus infused face towel. Rather than pumping the keg, you're pumping (and dipping) your arms to the beat of somethin' all kindsa catchy. Right as you look over expecting to see the token "DJ" friend manning the iPod dock, there I am enthusiastically sporting a headset microphone a la Britney Spears, telling you to turn up the resistance.

I want people to walk out of my class feeling electric, with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment, drenched in sweat, smiling ear to ear, all fired up to come back and push even harder.

What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
Run away and join the circus (stay tuned…)

3 things you couldn't do without?
Laughter, Friendship, and Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark”

What motivates you about being a motivator?
Teaching spin is one of the most positive things in my life. I love the people, the energy and I love being able to make a difference in someone’s day. When someone comes out of class and says “ I needed that” or tells me that something I said made them motivated- there is no better feeling. The challenges you overcome on the bike set you up for how you take on challenges in your life. Confidence to reach your goals and overcome anything life throws at you starts with the buzz you get when you crush a class.

How would you describe one of your style of classes at YYC?
I spread passion, good vibes and dedication into everything I do and I’ll make sure you bring that into every class. My approach to teaching is commanding and motivational -we can all push ourselves that little bit further when someone encourages you to break through your limits. Amazing things happen outside your comfort zone and I want to help guide you there. You can expect a remixed track by Notorius B.I.G and some high energy house beats.

What phone App do you use the most?
My business is very social so you’ll find me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook a lot!

What is your favorite 5 cent candy?
Fuzzy peaches. Duh.

What motivates you about being a motivator?

My amazing people. The types of people that amazing communities like YYC CYCLE attracts overfill my cup to no end. Everything from the connections through glances and smiles that I share with the biker gang, the authentic conversations we have, to engaging in some serious ass-kicking, adrenaline junkie sweat sessions together is so rewarding. I am always grateful when I sit on that bike in a room with such brave, authentic, and powerful people. The energy from everyone is so rewarding and part of the spin addiction that I love so much. We are changing each other, and as a Motivator, I am just as motivated by the biker gang and my fellow motivators, (if not more), as they are me. We are the luckiest.

How would you describe your style of class at YYC?

ADRENALINE JUNKIE HEAVEN! I loooooooove blasting it out at the end of the day together. Sweat, killers jams, dance parties, and laughing are four of my favorite things. At YYC CYCLE, you can get it all in the same place.

My background lies in competitive sports. I played college hockey in the NCAA during university, winning a national title with the University of Minnesota-Duluth. I was a competitive ringette player my whole life, and played in the National Ringette League the past two years, where we won a National Championship as well.

I love to race in many half-marathons/marathons, and push to place in my age category. I am an avid yoga practicer and recently completed my 200hr Yoga Alliance certification this past fall. The commitment I have/had to these sports in my life has not disappeared, but rather transferred into my SPIN MOTIVATOR title, which I couldn't be more happy about.

If you were trapped on a deserted island, what is one think you couldn’t live without?

Music.

If someone asked you to give them a random piece of advice, what you you say?

The first to apologize is the bravest.
